FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I know about Traditional Acupuncture?
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very thin and flexible, about the size of a human hair. Some people feel a slight ache when the needle is inserted; however, most patients feel no sensation at all. Anything that is felt is usually mild and subsides quickly after insertion. Most acupuncture patients find the treatments to be very relaxing and pleasurable often leading to sleep during the treatment.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, acupuncture is an extremely safe form of health care. Licensed acupuncturists are required by law to be certified in Clean Needle Technique. At Vital Changes Acupuncture and Nutrition, Diane uses only pre-sterilized, individually packaged and disposable needles. There is no danger of infection with acupuncture.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of treatments needed varies from person to person. Some patients begin to see favorable results after only one or two treatments. Most health problems, however, take several treatments to resolve and many require ten or more sessions to see significant results. In general, chronic conditions require more treatments than acute conditions.
